As part of the due diligence process we have been seeking clarification about how much school playing field will be subject to the 125 year lease and transferred to PDET on conversion.
Some of you may recall that it was NCC’s intention to retain a significant portion of the playing field for future development and to do so, they must obtain consent from the Secretary of State. As part of the process, in 2016 NCC undertook a s77 consultation the outcome of which has never been known.
We are delighted to report that we have been informed that Lord Agnew, Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State at the Department for Education has considered the matter and did not consent to the proposed disposal. Therefore all of the playing field will transfer to PDET under a 125 year lease.
This is a fantastic result. Tom Pursglove MP, PDET and governors have provided significant time and effort to achieve this outcome and it follows on from the strong community support that has fought for the retention of this playing field. Our thanks go to all involved.
Resolving this outstanding issue has meant the conversion date is delayed until 1st October 2018.
