Dear Parents, Pupils and Oundle Community,
Thank you for your patience as the process to determine the future leadership of Oundle CE Primary School has unfolded over recent months. The Governors and our Trust have been mindful of the need for some certainty in these most uncertain of times.
We are pleased to announce that Mrs Jo Griffin has been appointed to become the next Headteacher of Oundle CE Primary School. She will take up her post on the retirement of Mrs McMurdo. Having served several years as a Deputy Head, Mrs Griffin is currently the Headteacher of Towcester CE Primary School and will therefore bring experience of leading a school of similar size and ambition alongside a clear understanding of what it means to be a church school. She will take up her post from August 2021 after completing this academic year at her current school.
As Mrs McMurdo had announced her retirement to take place at Easter, the school therefore requires an interim arrangement for the summerterm. With the current lockdown and period of disruption in mind, we are therefore grateful to Mrs McMurdo who has agreed to postpone her retirement and to continue as Headteacher on a part-time basis until the end of the academic year, sharing Headteacher responsibilities with Miss Morrison for the summer term. We would like to take the chance to thank both of our summer term Headteachers for their flexibility and commitment to the school in accepting these temporary arrangements.
This is an unusual juncture for Oundle CE Primary School 19 years on from the last time that the school appointed a new Headteacher. Whilst leadership change can often be unsettling, it is also a time of renewal and refocus and we look forward with expectation to the next chapter for our school, retaining the strong culture and ethos of the past whilst looking forward to new opportunities.
On behalf of the Academy Governance Committee,
Gordon Montgomery
Chair of Governors
