Year 2 - Simmonds Class
Welcome to Simmonds class page.
We are really looking forward to welcoming you back to school!
We can’t wait for an exciting new year with lots of interesting topics.
We have some excellent topics this Autumn term including The Great Fire of London. We will investigate the causes of the fire and why it spread so fast.
We will also be investigating the properties and uses of materials, linking our learning to materials used to build houses in 1666.
In English we will be writing our own story based on Vlad and the Great Fire of London. I am also looking forward to our art sessions, as I love being creative.
Our PE days are Monday and Thursday so please do not forget to wear PE kit on these days and wear kit appropriate to the weather on these days.
If you are a parent and would like more information about how to support your child with phonics at home, please follow this link to find the Foundation Stage and Year 1 progression overview as well as useful videos of the sound pronunciations, letter formation sheets and other helpful resources. These overviews and videos are also suitable for parents of children in Year 2 as they demonstrate how phonics is taught at Oundle Primary and the foundations upon which the Year 2 phonics curriculum is built.
You may also find the Little Wandle Letters and Sounds Revised presentation for parents helpful. To view this please click here.
