Year 6 - Attenborough Class
Welcome to Attenborough’s class page!
We have some lovely topics and new things to learn about in the second Spring Term.
The children are really enjoying our class text ‘Holes’ by Louis Sachar and we are adding the poem ‘The Highwayman’ as a stimulus for our writing.
Our exciting Geography topic for the whole term up to Easter is The Amazon Rainforest. We will be learning a lot about the human and physical features of this region, as well as studying population trends, weather and climate.
Our DT topic is ‘Frame Structures’. In DT sessions the children will research the use of frame structures, understand how to make and strengthen them and go on to make their own frame structure for a hide or shelter in the Amazon Rainforest. In science we are continuing to learn about classification of living things and move on to looking at micro-organisms. We will cover the seven life processes, the five kingdoms and will also have opportunities to classify a range of items using and designing classification keys.
In PE, we be continuing to learn skills of Football playing in our outdoor sessions and we will be using our indoor sessions to develop Badminton skills.
